An exploration of contemporary American Jewish thought on the significant life experiences that contribute to our self-awareness as Jews and the larger social/cultural/philosophical context that shapes our interpretation of these experiences. Well discuss concepts of alienation, authenticity, and agency, as well as ideas about Whiteness in American history, being out as a Jew, Jewish gender politics and the importance of American Jewish institutions in shaping Jewish identity.

Ms. Belay is an independent consultant to foundations, faith-based and community based organizations.
